Akita

The Akita comes from Japan with its origins in the 1600's. It is descended from the Spitz and was developed by a Japanese nobleman living in the province of Akita. The dog was used for hunting big game such as bears! The Akita was officially recognised as part of Japan's national heritage in the 1930's. It is also known as the Akita Inu and Japanese Akita.
