Basset hound

Imported into the UK in the 1800's the Basset hound, relative to it's size, is the heaviest boned dog of any breed. Standing only 36 cms their name is derived from the French word bas - meaning low!

The Basset is an affectionate and placid breed typified by it's serious expression.
