Originating in Belgium in the 1600's the Bouvier Des Flandres was developed for herding cattle. Standing at around 60 cms high the Bouvier Des Flandres, despite its formidable appearance, is good with children, makes an excellent pet and is content with moderate amounts of exercise. The Bouvier Des Flandres was used in the First World War for carrying messages and locating wounded service men. It is also known as the Belgium Cattle Dog.
