Papillon
The name of the Papillon refers to the position and shape of its ears and is derived from the French word Papillon meaning butterfly. The origin of the Papillon is not clear but they were popular among the nobility in Europe in the 1700's and it is likely that the Bichon Frise and spaniels are in their ancestery. The Papillon is a strong little dog and will live happily indoors as long as they have daily exercise. The Papillon is intelligent and easy to train but they can become demanding and possessive. It is also known as the Continental Toy Spaniel.
