Often confused with the Lhasa Apso the Shih Tsu (or Shih Tzu) has a denser, wavy coat and a face that has been described as resembling a chrysanthemum, hence its other name of Chrysanthemum dog. The Shih Tsu was developed in Beijing, China, by crossing various miniature Chinese breeds with Tibetan breeds. The Shih Tsu was a great favourite with Chinese Emperors.
